By the way, if you are looking at doing one of these do it yourself repairs and you have already been doing some digging around on the boards within the radio, you may have ran across this type of burned spot on a board within your radio as shown in Figure 2.12 below. If you have found this and/or have had someone look at it and saw the display with the burnt mark on it as seen below in Figure 1...don't worry, it's not a problem! This is not a cause of your display being out...this is a normal mark on these fluorescent displays and is just a part of the manufacturing process to seal these tubes. DON' T LET SOME TECHNICIAN TELL YOU DIFFERENTLY!
